Baker, Bourdon, Chisholm, Thiessen named OUA athletes of the week
Burlington, Ont. – Keon Baker, Hannah Bourdon, Clara Chisholm, and Megan Thiessen have been named OUA athletes of the week for the period ending January 11, 2026.
Keon Baker, Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, Basketball
Baker put on an offensive showcase on Saturday night in the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks’ 67-59 upset of the No. 7 Carleton Ravens in Ottawa. The fifth-year guard from Pickering, Ont. put up an impressive 42 points in the contest, breaking the Ontario Tech scoring record. A crucial factor in the win, Baker added four rebounds and one assist in his 35 minutes on the floor. He was 5-for-7 from beyond the arc and 13-for-15 from the line.
Prior to his explosive outing on Saturday, the liberal arts student contributed 19 points to his team’s efforts in their 72-61 loss to the Ottawa Gee-Gees.
Baker currently sits second in the province averaging 21.3 points per game.
Hannah Bourdon, Guelph Gryphons, Basketball
Bourdon, the Fort Erie product, played a crucial role in the Guelph Gryphons’ 78-77 win over the Western Mustangs on Friday night. She scored 27 points to go along with her 13 rebounds, four assists and three steals.
The sport and event management student carried over her strong play to the following night in a matchup with the Windsor Lancers as she had a season-high seven steals, with her 21-point, 12 rebound double-double her team's 73-57 win.
The Gryphons’ 9th straight win gave them sole possession of top spot in the OUA West. The double-double was Bourdon's sixth of the season in an impressive campaign for the fourth-year guard.
Bourdon in her 14 games played ranks in the top 10 of the OUA in PPG (17.1, 6th), total points (240, 3rd), total rebounds (130, 6th), assists (40,6th) and steals (51, 2nd).
Clara Chisholm, Laurier Golden Hawks, Hockey
Chisholm tallied her tenth multi-point game of her young OUA career and made it one to remember this past weekend. With the No. 4 Laurier Golden Hawks hosting the Ottawa Gee-Gees in their first game of 2026,
Chisholm recorded the first four-point game of her career with a two goal, two assist performance.
Both of her goals came in the opening frame, the second of which stood up as the eventual game-winner in a 5-1 victory.
Less than 24 hours later, the psychology major from Granton, Ont. was at it again, assisting on the eventual game-winner in a tight-checking 3-0 win over the York Lions. She also added an assist to record her eleventh multi-point game while helping Laurier win their seventh game in a row and move into sole possession of first-place in the OUA.
Megan Thiessen, Brock Badgers, Hockey
Traveling to Toronto for their first two games of the new year, Thiessen led the Brock Badgers women's to wins in both matchups over the weekend. During Friday’s 1-0 shootout win over the York Lions, the kinesiology student earned her first shutout of the regular season, stopping all 20 shots she faced in regulation and stopping three Lions' shots to help clinch the Badgers' victory.
Facing off against the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday, the second-year netminder stopped 30 of the 32 shots she faced, sporting a .932 save percentage enroute to a 4-2 victory. Thiessen also helped the Badgers penalty-kill unit kill five of the six power plays they faced over the weekend as the Badgers earned their sixth and seventh wins of the season.
