Burlington, Ont. – Mikayla Cranney, Kiara Leveridge, Danika Scharff, and Iannis Toma have been named OUA athletes of the week for the period ending November 16th, 2025.
Mikayla Cranney, Hockey, Queen's Gaels
Cranney helped the Queen's Gaels women's hockey team go undefeated over the weekend. The forward from Aurora, Ont. recorded four points over two games with a goal and assist in both the Gaels' 3-0 win over the York Lions and 4-1 win over the Western Mustangs.
Cranney now has seven goals and eight assists for 15 points in 12 games, second in the OUA only to teammate Sophie Hudson's 18 points.
The third-year arts and science student has helped Queen's get off to an impressive start to the season. The Gaels are atop the OUA East standings with a 10-2-0 record.
Kiara Leveridge, Basketball, York Lions
It was a record-setting night for Leveridge, who, on top of posting her second double-double of the season after narrowly missing one on Friday night, became York women's basketball's all-time leading scorer on Saturday night. Her lay-up with 4:30 to go in the second quarter initiated an old-fashion three-point play with the and-one, earning the longtime Lion her 1,450th career points, sliding her to the top of the York all-time scoring list.
Leveridge broke the record in just her 88th career game. Additionally, the Scarborough native moved atop York's all-time field goals made list, currently at 478, four ahead of the previous record of 474.
Leveridge put up 16 points and nine rebounds, while adding five steals to her total in the Lions 74-68 win over the Toronto Varsity Blues. She backed that performance up with 23 points and 15 rebounds in their loss to the TMU Bold.
Danika Scharff, Volleyball, Windsor Lancers
Scharff orchestrated a perfect weekend for the Windsor Lancers, as they won all six sets they played against the TMU Bold. The fourth-year setter had 71 assists across both games, helping the Lancers to a .276 hitting percentage on Friday and .330 on Saturday.
Her individual stat lines included 33 assists on Friday, and bettering that on Saturday with 38 assists. She was able to contribute on both sides of the ball, picking up six kills, 13 digs, and six block assists on the weekend.
Scharff now leads the conference and the country with 10.64 assists per set. The Lancers hold a perfect 6-0 record on the season so far.
Iannis Toma, Volleyball, Toronto Varsity Blues
In a grueling weekend which saw back-to-back five set contests at Waterloo, second-year outside hitter Toma set new career-highs to help the Blues to a 5-1 record to start the season.
The mathematics and statistics major from Kitchener, Ont., registered a new single game best 30.5 points and 26 kills in the University of Toronto’s Friday night victory over the Warriors. He also recorded three aces, and seven digs in the contest. He then added another 18 points with 17 kills on Saturday to lift his two-match total to 48.5 points and 43 kills.
Toma currently ranks top 5 in several offensive categories including total kills (98 - 2nd), kills per set (3.63 - 4th) and total points (108.5 - 5th).
