Burlington, Ont. – Grace Dale and Ambrose Tinmouth have been named OUA athletes of the week for the period ending September 17, 2023.
Grace Dale, Rugby, Brock Badgers
The Brock Badgers women's rugby team showcased their dominance on the road this past weekend with a victory against Trent Excalibur. Leading the charge was second-year sensation Grace Dale, who played a pivotal role in improving the Badgers season record to 2-1.
Dale, a Georgetown, Ont. native, contributed to the win with four tries in the game, three of which were scored in the first half en route to 15 key points for the Badgers. The sophomore continued to showcase her skills in the second half of the game, scoring yet another try to finish the game with an impressive 20 out of her side's 68 points in the win.
The outdoor recreation major put on an incredible offensive performance and was pivotal in securing the Badgers’ second consecutive shutout victory of the season.
Ambrose Tinmouth, Soccer, Guelph Gryphons
This past Friday night in Waterloo, second-year management economics and finance major Ambrose Tinmouth put on the best performance of his varsity career, finding the back of the net once while helping out on a trio of teammate scores.
With the Gryphons searching for their first win in 2023, Ambrose found teammate Juliano Campedelli for the game's opening goal in first half added time for his first assist. After the Warriors tied it, Tinmouth once again found an open teammate, this time Anthony Ostrun. to retake the lead for the Gryphons. Following his assist on what would be the game-winning goal, the Comox, B.C. product found the back of the net himself and added another helper to his statline just three minutes later.
Two days later, back on his home pitch, the forward once again was the best player on the field against the Warriors. He scored just seven minutes into the match and then continued his incredible stretch just 13 minutes later when he received a perfect pass from teammate Damian Truong and chipped the ball past the Waterloo goaltender.
The brace cemented his six-point weekend across the team's two wins over Waterloo.
