MALE: Milan Beader (Oakville, Ont.) – 1st yr – York Lions – Soccer
Rookie Milan Beader (Oakville, Ont.) is the Investors Group OUA Male Athlete of the Week after he helped the Lions men’s soccer team to a pair of victories over the rival No. 7 ranked McMaster Marauders and the Waterloo Warriors.
After trailing McMaster 2-0 early in the match, Beader completed the Lions dramatic comeback scoring in the 48th minute to give York a 3-2 lead. The Lions would score four goals in just a ten minute span with Beader’s marker standing as the eventual game winner in a 4-2 victory.
The first-year business & society student-athlete followed that up the following night with his second goal in two nights, beating the Warriors keeper in the 85th minute to give the Lions a little breathing room in an eventual 3-0 win.
Beader, a 6’4” forward, is now tied for seventh in OUA with three goals in five games.
