GRYPHONS ANNOUNCE GREEN AS NEW LACROSSE HEAD COACH
Green served as an assistant coach for the Gryphons in 1999-2000, when the women's team won the OUA silver. She served as head coach in 2000-2001 when the team took second place in the OUA West Division and in 2001-2002 where she was named OUA coach of the year after her team finished as OUA silver medalists. She has most recently worked as goalie coach this past season for the Gryphons. She holds a NCCP Level 1 Lacrosse coaching designation.
As a past Guelph Gryphon, Green had a successful playing career. She played from 1997-1999 for the Gryphons, and during the 1999 season was named an OUA West Division all-star and OUA most valuable player. She moved on to the Ontario Lacrosse Team from 1999 until 2002, and then played one season (2002-2003) for the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks.
"I am extremely excited about the potential I witnessed in the team last season and I am looking forward to building a strong team that is focused and dedicated," said Green.
Green completed her honours bachelor of arts at Guelph, and majored in psychology with a minor in child and family studies. She continued her education at Wilfrid Laurier where she successfully completed her Master's in social work.
The Gryphons are coming off of a season with a 0-11-1 record. Green stated that her goals for the team are: "Have fun and create a team that is cohesive and focused. Focus on small improvements to the team's game that will translate into wins on the field."
Green replaces Garry Dobbie who recently stepped down to pursue other opportunities.
