Bio

Passionate about all things sport, especially the impact that it can have both on and off the field, Chris Verlaan has been showcasing this passion as part of the OUA team since September 2017.

Chris brings over 10 years of experience working within the sport industry, in roles spanning communications, marketing, event management, and volunteer management. He previously worked with organizations like Special Olympics Ontario, the Niagara Sport Commission, and Core Sport Communications, having co-founded the latter.

A graduate of both the Queen’s University commerce program and the Brock University sport management program, Chris also recently held the role of communications lead as part of the Team Ontario mission staff at the 2022 Canada Summer Games, wherein he helped highlight the incredible achievements of the host province’s contingent in the Niagara Region.

With leading efforts in social media management, content creation, graphic design, website management, and media/content partnership development, Chris continues to shine a light on the OUA’s student-athletes and membership across the conference landscape.
