Brock women's basketball defeated by No. 7 McMaster 77-60
ST. CATHARINES, Ont - The Brock University women's basketball team (1-3 OUA) fell to the No. 7 ranked McMaster Marauders (3-2 OUA) Wednesday evening at Bob Davis Gymnasium by the score of 77-60.
ST. CATHARINES, Ont - The Brock University women's basketball team (1-3 OUA) fell to the No. 7 ranked McMaster Marauders (3-2 OUA) Wednesday evening at Bob Davis Gymnasium by the score of 77-60.
Both teams traded points early on in the opening frame, before the Marauders took control leading 26-14 after one quarter.
The Badgers rallied back in the second quarter, highlighted by a 15-2 run, which resulted in the Badgers taking their first lead of the game 29-28 with six minutes to play in the first half.
Shortly after the Badgers took the lead, the Marauders closed out the second quarter with a run of their own, leading 46-34 at the half. Despite a late push from Brock, McMaster would eventually take control late in the fourth quarter on route to the 77-60 victory.
The Badgers offensive attack was led by rookie Melissa Tatti who collected a game-high 20 points and four steals. Kayla Sanitilli chipped in with 11 points, while Kate Harpur, Sarah Pallett, and Kira Cornelissen all added six points each. Harpur also finished with a game-high 14 rebounds.
For the Marauders, the offence was led by Danielle Boiago who collected 20 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double. Linnaea Harper also collected a double-double finishing with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Brock struggled from the field going just 21-for-69 (30.4%) and 8-for-31 (25.8%) from beyond the arc. They were also just 10-for-17 (58.8%) from the charity stripe.
The Badgers return to action this Saturday, November 22nd at 6pm when they host the Queens Gaels at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
