TORONTO – The Ryerson curling team is excited to announce a new event, the Ryerson Challenge Cup, which will take place this weekend in a unique environment.
The Rams will host the University of Toronto Varsity Blues, the team they competed against all season at the Leaside Curling Club, this Saturday, April 16 starting at 8:00 p.m. at the Mattamy Athletic Centre.
Both the men's and women's teams will take to arena ice as the Rams secured two sheets of ice during this weekend's Grand Slam of Curling Players' Championship hosted at the MAC.
The 2015-16 season was the first year of Rams curling in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) circuit and Ryerson showed well at their first championship. The men finished the round robin schedule with a winning 4-3 record while the women posted a 3-4 record in their pool play.
Ryerson Challenge Cup opponents, the Toronto Varsity Blues men's team also finished with a 4-3 record at this year's OUA championship while the women went 5-2 to advance to the playoff round before losing in the quarter-final.
Tickets are not required for the Ryerson Challenge Cup but donations towards the Rams curling team are encouraged.
