Western 8 Queen’s 26
The Queen's men's rugby squad (4-0) had little trouble taking down their long-time rivals the Western Mustangs (2-2) on Saturday afternoon at Nixon Field.
GAME FLOW
The Western Mustangs were no match for the undefeated Gaels. Head coach David Butcher was looking to make an impression as his first year at Queen's with a decisive victory in his first match in the historic rivalry.
Things started off strong for the Gaels, as Nicholas DeLallo (Ottawa) managed to break through the Western line and score a try early in the first. Alex Colborne (London, Ont.) hit the conversion. Delallo again was the man, slipping through the Mustang defence to score his second try of the game in the opening half. Western managed to keep the ball in Queen's territory for most of the final minute of the first half, but the Gaels defence was too strong. A late penalty goal by William Saunders put the Mustangs on the board for the first time this game. Entering the half, the Gaels lead 14-3.
The second half began with even play from both sides, but a kick put the ball deep into Queen's territory. Again, it was strong end-zone defence and ruck control that kept the Mustangs off the scoresheet. After some back and forth, the Gaels managed to find an opening. Colborne drove in the first try of the second half. Western managed to finally score their first try of the game, late into the second half, but it would prove to be too little too late. Charlie Tremblay (Glenburnie, Ont.) put the nail in the coffin with a try in extra time.

Brock 5 Guelph 56
Size is a major attribute of the Guelph Gryphons men's rugby team. The defending OUA champions are a big side – and they used their power to work the Brock Badgers over in a one-sided 56-5 win at Varsity Field Saturday night.
In a meeting of undefeated teams, the Gryphons (4-0) showed they were too much for the Badgers, who had won their first three matches but spent much of Saturday going backwards on the pitch.
"We just wore them down on both sides of the ball," said Guelph coach Cory Hector. "We were bigger and able to punish them when we were running at them and when we were defending.
"It was constant pressure."
Third-year flanker Marcello Wainwright led the way with three tries, while rookie fly half John Sheridanscored a try and nailed all eight conversion attempts for 21 total points. Kolby Francis made his first appearance of the season after an injury kept him out and the third-year 8-man provided a try in 60 solid minutes of action.
Guelph had a sluggish opening but did get on the scoreboard just a few minutes into the match thanks to fifth-year prop Samuel Evans. Francis added his about midway through the half after a great run from second-year prop Mitchell Gleben. Sheridan's conversion would make it 14-0 and the Gryphons didn't look back.
The hosts were up 21-0 at the half but actually picked up the intensity when the subs came rolling in after the restart.
"There was a change of pace in the second half," said Hector, who was satisfied seeing the team add 35 more points. "The bench had a massive impact. It's what we want from them.
"It hadn't happened yet in previous matches this season but today, it was like they were shot out of a cannon."
Hector was also complimentary of Guelph's front row, which showed well all over the field but particularly in set pieces.
The Gryphons have now out-scored opponents 156-25 through four matches.

McMaster 27 Waterloo 15
Four different Marauders crossed the try line, as McMaster came out on the winning end of a spirited contest in Waterloo Sunday.
Mac got back into the win column with a 27-15 victory over the Waterloo Warriors to improve to 3-1 on the season.
Jamie McNaughton, Jack McRogers, Cam Elliot and Mitch Richardson each had tries, while Will Kelly made good on two converts and a penalty goal in the win.
Sunday's game marked the second appearance of the season for the trio of McNaughton, McRogers and Kelly after international duty with the Canadian Junior National program through August and early September.
Paul Tento and Paul Schroeder had tries for the Warriors, who drew first blood before the Marauders ultimately found their offensive stride.
