Rams Host Mustangs on Think Pink day
TORONTO - This Saturday the Ryerson Rams baseball team will take to the field to battle more than the visiting Western Mustangs. They will dedicate this double header to the battle against breast cancer in the 2nd Annual Think Pink Game.
The Rams are entering an important stretch as they try to reach the .500 record for the first time this season. The have won three of their last five including four outstanding starts. However, they will play the first place Western Mustangs (6-2) and the focus will also be on raising awareness and money to battle breast cancer.
This event was originally proposed by Rams pitcher and journalism student, Luke Bellus, during his freshman year. "Coach Rich had told the team that he was open to any ideas about an 'event game'" said Bellus. "I came forward with the idea that we do a Breast Cancer Awareness game, and thanks to our player reps Jared Armstrong and Kevin MacDonald and coach Rich getting everything approved by athletics we were able to set up our first Breast Cancer game during the 2016 season."
The motivation for Bellus to create this event was due to the personal losses of loved ones to breast cancer. "Breast cancer hit my family a number of years ago when it took the life of my aunt Paola," said Bellus. "And in March of 2016, I lost a good friend of mine – Cathy Drago – to breast cancer."
During the game there will be a raffle for Blue Jays tickets for 2018. And "Lets Strikeout Breast Cancer" shirts will be sold for $20. All proceeds will go to breast cancer research.
A Fan Bus is being organized to pick people up at 11 am at the Mattamy Athletic Centre and bring people back at 3 pm. If you would like to sign up for the Fan Bus click the link https://beta.doodle.com/poll/46sgsmmki5d6hkew

The Rams will donate .25 cents per hashtag use, up to a maximum of $500. You can follow the game at home on Twitter, @RyersonBaseball.
