Taking a combined degree in Honours Geography and Political Science, Victoria Coates excelled
both in the classroom and on the track in the 2011-12 academic year.
A three-time Marauder Scholar and Dean’s Honour List student, Victoria received the
Undergraduate Student Research Award allowing her to conduct original research under the
supervision of a faculty member. Last year she also received the Margaret Dumore Scholarship in
Political Science as well as the Dr. Thomas Hobley Prize for achieving the highest sessional
average in Honours Political Science.
On the track, she captured an OUA bronze medal in the 3000m and came fourth in the same race
on the national stage at the CIS championship. She was an OUA first-team all-star in
cross-country and helped her team to an OUA silver medal and CIS bronze medal.
Currently in her fourth and final year at McMaster, Victoria is looking to pursue her Master’s in
Urban Planning at either Queen’s, the University of Toronto or Ryerson.
