CARLETON, YORK REMAIN UNDEFEATED TO REMAIN ATOP STANDINGS
The Carleton University Ravens (7-0-1) defeated the Ryerson Rams (1-5-1), 3-0, to remain undefeated and atop the east standings.
Carleton’s Andrew Park (Sudbury, Ont.) set the tone early for the Ravens scoring a quick goal at the six minute mark.
Duca Muscillo (Bolton, Ont.) almost equalized for the Rams just five minutes later but was unable to connect with the dangerous cross to put it into the opposition goal.
Park scored a second goal two minutes from halftime to send the Ravens into the dressing room at halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Following the break Chris Huxtable (Surrey, B.C.) scored his first of the season in the 53rd minute to increase the lead to three goals. Goalkeeper Arjun Langford (Oakville, Ont.) earned his third shutout victory of the season.
The Ravens now have 22 points and are 5th in the CIS rankings. The Rams are currently in 6th place in the east.
York 1, Brock 0
York University (7-0-1) was able to pull off a narrow victory and snap a four game Brock (4-3-1) win streak in Sunday’s match up.
With some key players missing from the lineup due to injury, the Badgers were under attack early on by a pressing York side.
David Nogaro (Richmond Hill, Ont.) scored in the 27th minute past Brock goalkeeper Chris Cutaia (Grimsby, Ont.), which turned out to be the decisive goal of the contest.
Brock created many exciting scoring chance in the second half but couldn’t capitalize in order to tie it. York goalkeeper Ramon McIntosh (Toronto, Ont.) was solid in goal to deny Brock and register his fourth shutout of the season.
York sits second in the CIS rankings and holds their first place spot in the east. Brock assumes third place with 13 points behind York and Western respectively.
