Playoff update regarding second round seeding
Burlington, Ont. - On Wednesday, February 13, it was discovered by Ontario University Athletics (OUA) that Queen’s University played an ineligible player on their February 9 game versus McGill University. The player in question should have been serving a one-game suspension, as per the automatic sanction chart. Subsequently, this game has been forfeited, leaving Queen’s with an adjusted record of 18-10-0 and McGill with an adjusted record of 17-7-4. These adjusted records would result in Queen’s being reseeded as the No. 4 seed, and McGill as the No. 3 seed.
Queen’s was immediately notified of the infraction, and the player in question served his outstanding one-game suspension on February 13. Unfortunately, given that this infraction was discovered two hours before the start of the first round of the playoffs, it was determined that the opening round matchups would not be reseeded.
Going forward, however, the conference semifinals will reflect the adjusted records.
