RUACH LEADS WAY AS LIONS UPSET CARLETON
The Ravens and Lions playing their fourth OUA East Championship game, in five years, played a typical Carleton-York game featuring a high-scoring, physical affair with a close ending. The Ravens and Lions traded leads in the first half 10 times before the Lions opened a four-point lead, 24-20, at the 12-minute mark of the first half. The Lions never looked back as they led the rest of the game. The visiting team from North York, led 46-41, at the half and in the second half was able to maintain their five-point lead for most the of the half. The Lions actually opened up a brief 10-point lead with eight minutes remaining. Carleton, who was missing their OUA East first-team all-star Aaron Doornekamp due to injury, never let up and kept the score close, but on this day fell short for only the third time on the season and third time in four years.
Tut Ruach led the Lions with a team-high 23 points, 10 assists and four steals to be named the Player of the Game. In addition, to Ruach's 23 points, veteran Lions forwards Dan Eves and Jordan Foebel each scored 15 points and Rohan Steen added 12 points in the victory over Carleton. Foebel led the Lions in rebounds with seven.
Osvaldo Jeanty led Carleton with 23 points, Jean Emmanuel Jean Marie had a good game in the absence of Doornekamp with a 20-point performance and 10 rebounds. Ryan Bell also added 12 points in the loss to York. The Ravens out-rebounded York 35 to 28 in the game.
