The Waterloo women's golf team opened up their 2015 season in style winning gold at both the Carleton Invitational (Greensmere Golf Club) and Queen's Invitational (Cataraqui Golf Club).

The Waterloo women's golf team opened up their 2015 season in style winning gold at both the Carleton Invitational (Greensmere Golf Club) and Queen's Invitational (Cataraqui Golf Club).
Both tournaments were played in very difficult conditions but the black and gold prevailed to take home top spot. Individually Stephanie Chu (Markham) was on her game firing a 7-over, 79 at the Carleton Invitational to grab the silver medal while at the Queen's Invitational she shot 6-over, 80 to claim the individual gold medal.
Other strong performances came from Stefanie Bothwell (Cambridge) who earned the bronze medal with her 80 in the Carleton Invitational while she finished in second spot for the silver at Queen's Invitational thanks to her score of 83.

Krantz wins Queen's Invitational in dominating fashion
KINGSTON, Ont. – James Krantz could not have asked for a better to start to the OUA golf season.
The UOIT captain shot a 5-under 65 to win the Queen's Invitational by four strokes at the Cataraqui Golf and Country Club. Krantz (Oshawa, Ont.) only needed 27 putts and hit 15 greens in regulation to cruise to the season opening victory.
Entering his senior season, the mechanical engineering major is coming off a top-ten finish at the OUA championship and a top 25 performance at the University/College national championship.
With a team total of 296, UOIT would finish in second place overall besting the defending OUA champion Waterloo Warriors by six strokes. Queen's would capture the team competition with a low total of 283, an average score of 70.75.
MacKenzie Dasti and Ben Kennedy shot matching 6-over 76's for UOIT while Nick Dirk posted a 9-over 79. Josh Harrop rounded out scoring for UOIT with an 82.
This is the second consecutive year UOIT has finished in second place at the invitational.
UOIT will continue action this week at the Western Invitational. The two-day tournament will take place at the St. Thomas Golf & Country Club (Thursday) and Sunningdale Golf & Country Club (Friday).
The Ridgebacks and the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club is set to host the 2014 OUA Championship that will run from October 19-20.
