GAELS SWEEP BATTLE OF KINGSTON IN VOLLEYBALL
Taking the victory with set scores 25-14, 25-13, 25-12, the Gaels saw second year physical education student Bryan Fautley (Oakville, Ont.) lead the team with 12 kills for a game-high 12 points. Rookie setter Jackson Dakin (Courtenay, B.C.) recorded 29 assists for the Gaels while Jeff DeMeza (Calgary, Alta.) hit five aces in victory.
RMC's top scorer was Philip Gulajski (Ottawa, Ont.) who produced eight of the Paladins' 15 points knocking down eight kills.
The Gaels move into a tie for first place in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) with the McMaster Marauders.
On the women's side, Natalie Gray (Oshawa, Ont.) hit four service aces and seven points as she led the Queen's Gaels to victory over RMC on Wednesday inside the Bartlett Gymnasium.
Gray produced 12 straight serves and all four of her aces in the first set as the Gaels swept the Paladins 3-0 (25-10, 25-7, 25-12). All 14 Gaels that dressed saw the court in the victory. Elyssa Heller (Highland Park, Ill.) knocked down eight kills for a game-high nine points.
Setters Julie Lockwood (Calgary, Alta.) and Kristin Collins (Whitby, Ont.) combined for 32 assists, seven digs and three points for the Gaels. Twelve of the 14 Queen's players recorded at least one point in the victory while RMC only produce a total of 10 points throughout the game, with no Paladin hitting more than one kill. Queen's also held the Paladins to just one block total.
Queen's moves into sole possession of third place in the OUA East Division and have won seven of their last 10 games and their third in a row.
