OUA LACROSSE ROUNDUP
On Saturday, the Gaels notched a 14-4 rout of the University of Toronto and followed that with a 11-7 victory over the McMaster Marauders on Sunday. In the closing match of the three-game set, Queen’s downed McGill 9-7.
With the three wins, the Gaels sit in first place of the OUA standings, two points ahead of Wilfrid Laurier who secured two wins this weekend. The Golden Hawks defeated McGill 13-7 and Toronto 17-8. The Varsity Blues did leave Montreal with one victory, 11-8 over McMaster. The Marauders lost all three of their games, also dropping a 12-5 decision against McGill.
McMaster's Jacklyn Heaton scored 11 goals in three games, adding an assist for 12 points. Also netting 12 points was Jacqueline Byers (Mississauga, Ont.) of Queen's who scored nine goals and added three helpers.
The next OUA lacrosse action takes place on Sept. 20 in Guelph. Teams participating in the two-day event include the host Gryphons, Laurier, McMaster, Western and Toronto.
