BLUES ROWERS BODE WELL AT WESTERN INVITATIONAL
Leading the way for the Blues were Toronto natives Christina Malinas and team captain Lauren Brown's first-place finish in the lightweight women's double.
Alanna Komisar (Calgary), Jin Jeon (Seoul, South Korea), Kate Sauks (Owen Sound, Ont.), Jennifer Sauks (Owen Sound, Ont.) and cox Kathleen Romatowski also placed first in the lightweight women's coxed four.
First-year law student Michael Milne (Thornhill, Ont.) picked up a second-place finish in the men's lightweight single, while the men's coxed four and men's novice eight also placed second in their events.
Oakville, Ont. native Neill Mears competed in the men's single and, along with the women's eight, picked up a third-place finish.
Both the novice women's coxed four and men's double added fourth-place finishes to the Blues list of results.
The Varsity Blues are back on the water next Saturday when they travel to Kingston, Ont. for a dual meet with the Queen's Gaels.
Notes: U of T coaches Ellen Morgan and Meghann Jackson, racing for Hanlan Boat Club, placed first in the open women's lightweight double.
