The McMaster women's heavyweight team of Ali Gage (Hamilton, Ont.), Christelle Tshilenge (Ottawa, Ont.), Katie Kendra (Markham, Ont.) and Nevena Prostran placed third.
The men's overall title was captured by the defending champions from University of Western Ontario, while the University of Toronto took home the women's trophy.
The 2x4 trophies are awarded based on a combined average result of the varsity heavyweight and lightweight events for men and women. Each team fields
four rowers in each category who cover the eight kilometre distance by switching on and off a single rowing ergometer.
This is the second year that McMaster has hosted the event. Nearly 100 competitors attended from five universities (Brock, McMaster, Ryerson, UofT, and Western).
Two local high schools (Westdale and Bishop Tonnos) also competed in special high school events.
