YORK LOSES 2ND MATCH OF THE SEASON
The York Lions hosted the Western Mustangs in this weekend's competition. Lions who have played tremendously well during league play gave up their second loss of the season. Heading up the Mustangs winning squad was Peter Sidler with 13 kills, 2 service and aces and 5 digs. Freshman setter Andrew Hinchey tallied an impressive 26 assists, with 5 digs. Leading the Lions offensive crew was Ryan Anderson with 11 kills, while veteran setter Jason Kinoshita recorded 32 assists and 9 digs.
Windsor 3, Queen's 2
The Windsor Lancers Men's Volleyball team won the 5th and deciding set to down the Queen's Golden Gaels. Windsor took the first two sets 27-25 and 25-21 before Queen's stormed back to take the next two sets 25-21 and 25-15. The Lancers dominated the final set, winning 15-8 to take the match. The Lancers used a balanced offensive attack to subdue the Gaels. David Paterson, Dave Quinn, Stephen Seguin, Agostino DiPietro, Stephen Gomes, and Jon Harris all reached double digits in points for the Lancers. Golden Gaels Daniel McCrae led his team with 17 kills while Andrew Bridgeman followed closely behind with 16 kills. Devin Miller also played a great game and tallied 35 assists.
Ryerson 3, Laurier 1
The Laurier Golden Hawks volleyball team battled with the Ryerson Rams on Saturday's match-up. All four sets were extremely close, with every point potentially determining the game. The Hawks and Rams fought to the end, which resulted with the Rams coming out victorious. Middle player Peter Wigger led the Hawks' offense with 15 kills, with J.P. Wikerd contributing 11 kills. Rams Ryan Vandenburg led his team with 17 kills in the win, while both Anton Hauser and Nicolas Beaver recorded 10 kills a piece.
Toronto 3, McMaster 2
The Varsity Blues played host to the Marauders in an action packed five set game. Varsity Blues Brandon Peel led his team with 16 kills and 18 digs. Adrian Weglo added 13 kills to the team's victory. McMaster Marauders Peter Hrkal recorded an incredible 21 kills, while Sean Panchal tallied 51 assists.
