GRYPHONS MEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM TO HOST NCAA'S CHATTANOOGA MOCS
Guelph, which loses two of its top players from 2008-09 (guard Nick Pankerichan and centre Duncan Milne) will be looking to their third and fourth-year players to step up. It will be the first CIS action for many newcomers on the Gryphons team and will be an opportunity for head coach Chris O'Rourke and his coaching staff to evaluate its roster. Last year the Gryphons finished the season with a 10-12 regular season record, losing in the first round of the OUA playoffs.
The Chattanooga Mocs finished last season with an 18-17 overall record, tied for first in their division, won the Southern Conference tournament and made their 10th appearance in the NCAA tournament. At the 2009 NCAA tournament they fell to eventual semi-finalist University of Connecticut in the first round. They are coached by fifth-year head coach John Shulman.
Tickets can be purchased in advance online at the Gryphons box office at www.athletics.uoguelph.ca/boxoffice/boxoffice.html.
The Gryphons will open their regular season at home on November 6 against the reigning national champion Carleton Ravens. For a full season schedule including pre-season exhibition games click here.
