GEE-GEES FROZEN OUT OF WINNIPEG HOLIDAY M-BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT FINAL
The Gee-Gees allowed a eight-point lead at the half (35-27) to evaporate to a winning basket by the Dinosaurs with two seconds remaining that propels the Canada West school to Tuesday's tournament final against Brandon.
"We were tired," said Gee-Gees head coach Dave DeAveiro. "Still, a great game."
Fourth-year guard Josh Gibson-Bascombe led the Gee-Gees with 17 points along with a team-high nine rebounds and six assists over a game-high 39 minutes.
Five Gee-Gees finished with at least 10 points, including American transfer Josh Wright, a fourth-year guard last of Syracuse University, who had 16 points and three assists over 23 minutes in his second Canadian university game.
uOttawa, which fell to 15-6 overall, faces Alberta in the third-place game Tuesday (5:00 p.m. ET).
