The Gee-Gees men's hockey team headed north to take on the Lakehead Thunderwolves at the Fort William Gardens arena. The crowd of 2625 people were treated to an exciting 4-2 win for the visiting Ottawa squad.
Ottawa's Vincent Maisonneuve was the first to find the net, logging his first of the season. Andrew Belchamber followed with a goal of his own minutes later. Despite the quick 2-0 lead, the Thunderwolves evened out the score before the buzzer signalled the end of the opening period.
In the second period, the Gee-Gees had racked up 10 penalty minutes. Despite being plagued by calls, Bradley Chenier was able to find the net and put the Gee-Gees back in the lead.
In the final seconds of play, Charles-Antoine Roy found the empty net goal to seal the deal. The 4-2 win marks the third consecutive victory for the Gee-Gees.
The team returns to Ottawa to host Toronto on January 31 before they cross town to take on the Ravens for the last time in the 2024-25 OUA regular season. The rivalry game is on February 2nd.
