The Gee-Gees women's hockey team were on home ice to close out the OUA regular season. The squad welcomed the #8 Waterloo Warriors before meeting with the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks for a second time this season.
Friday night's battle with the Warriors began with two scoreless periods with each team emphasizing speed and puck security.
Ottawa put plenty of pressure on the Waterloo defence throughout the third period, but the game remained scoreless.
In overtime, it was the Warriors who scored. A textbook two-on-one breakaway ended the game in favour of Waterloo.
Against the Ridgebacks, the Gee-Gees conceded a goal in the third minute of action. The Ridgebacks added to their lead with a powerplay goal in the second period.
Ontario Tech continued their attack, making it a 4-0 lead heading into the final period of action. This lead held until the final buzzer sounded.
While the Gee-Gees were unable to pick up a win in their final weekend of regular season games, the team will shift focus to playoffs and be back on the ice for the OUA quarterfinal from Feb. 26-Mar. 2.
