RECAP: #2 Gee-Gees earn dominant win on home court
The Gee-Gees women's basketball team were in Montpetit Hall to host the York Lions on Saturday night. From start to finish, Ottawa was the dominant squad, staying undefeated with an 85-44 win.
Ottawa came out hot, raking in 14 points before York was able to get on the board.
Victoria Brideau led the way with eight points in the opening 10 minutes, contributing to a 27-11 lead.
Ottawa built their lead to 47-15 in the first half. Ivany Rheault-Langué added seven points in the second quarter while Bailey Russell drained a pair of shots from beyond the arch.
While York matched Ottawa with 17 points scored in the third quarter, they were unable to challenge the Gee-Gees.
In the fourth, Natsuki Szczokin took control, starting with an impressive three-pointer. In minutes, the Gee-Gees built their lead to 38 points.
Ottawa closed the game 85-44 to stay undefeated in regular season action.
The Gee-Gees made 12 shots from beyond the arch, Russell led the way with four three-pointers, followed by Rheault-Langué with three.
Szczokin scored the game high 15 points while adding five rebounds, Russell finished with 14 points and three rebounds, and Rheault-Langué followed with 13 points.
Next, the Gee-Gees take a big road trip to battle the Brock Badgers and Algoma Thunderbirds on Nov. 15 and 17 respectively.
