HULSE OPENS SEASON WITH SECOND PLACE FINISH
Hulse finished the men’s 10 kilometre run in a time of thirty-two minutes and 48 seconds which was just 11 seconds behind Dave Weston (Windsor, Ont.) from the University of Windsor. Joshua Potvin (Thunder Bay, Ont.) was the next Gael to cross the line finishing 15th at 34:14.
As a team, the men finished with 102 points good enough for fourth place behind defending CIS national champions Guelph who finished first with 44 points. Western finished second and Windsor finished third.
On the women’s side, Leslie Sexton (Markham, Ont.) completed the five kilometre race in posting a time of 18:31. She was the lone Gael to crack the top-15. Guelph Gryphon Lindsay Carson (Cambridge, Ont.) won the race just four seconds off the course record of 17:15, finishing with an impressive time of 17:19 in slippery conditions.
The defending CIS champions Guelph won the team category with 31 points. Western finished in 6th with 133 points, while McMaster placed second with 85 points. Queen’s finished in fifth place.
Nadia Tatlow (Calgary, Alta.) was the only other Gael to break the top-20 finishing at 19:12.
Queen’s will travel to the University of Waterloo next weekend to compete in the Waterloo Open on Saturday. The Cross Country team is preparing for a season that will see them host two key competitions. The Queen’s Invitational will be on October 4th while the Gaels will also host the OUA Cross Country Championships on October 25.
