OUA men's water polo championship: Carleton and Toronto remain undefeated heading into final day of competition
The University of Toronto and Carleton University both went undefeated in round-robin pool play to secure their first place finish. Carleton started Day 2 with a win over York University. The University of Toronto was also victorious over McMaster University. The top scorer from Day 2 was Daniel Abraham from The University of Western Ontario with a total of six goals against York University and three against Queens University.
Game 7: Carleton (24) v. York (3)
Carleton started Day 2 off with a win over York University. Bouwer and Brosseau were the top scorers from Carleton with 4 each. Torres from York University scored 2 of their 3 goals.
Game 8: McMaster (4) v. Toronto (17)
McMaster suffered their third loss of the Championships against Toronto, the top ranked team after Day 1. Park scored 2 of McMaster’s 4 goals. Brasic from Toronto was the top scorer with 4.
Game 9: Western (11) v. Queens (6)
Western beat Queens to claim second in Group B. Abraham from Western and Bickerton from Queens were both top scorers with 3 goals each.
Game 10: Western (12) v. York (9)
Following their win, Western went on to play York, the third place team from Group A. They advance to game 12 tomorrow against Carleton. Abraham, the top scorer of the day scored half of Western’s total goals. Both Torres and Djordjevic were top scorers from York with 3 goals each.
Game 11: Queens (9) v. Ottawa (17)
Ottawa beat Queens to advance to game 13 tomorrow against Toronto. Tremblay from Ottawa scored a total of 5 goals. Taylor, Robinson and Long from Queens each scored 2.
Day One RecapToday kicked off the start of the OUA Men’s Water Polo Championships at Carleton University. The Championships will be comprised of seven universities and sixteen games from Friday through until Sunday.
The University of Toronto came out on top after day one, with a win against Queens University and The University of Western Ontario.
Game 1: Carleton (20) v. Ottawa (5)
Carleton kicked off the start of the championships with a big win over the University of Ottawa. Wagner led scoring on Carleton with 5 goals. Tremblay on Ottawa led in scoring with 4 of the 5 total goals.
Game 2: Queens (9) v. Toronto (21)
Toronto dominated the game against Queens. Mokhtar was the top scorer from Queens with 5 of the 9 goals. On Toronto, Chung was a top scorer also with a total of 5.
Game 3: Western (14) v. McMaster (12)
Western narrowly beat McMaster in a closely matched game. Webster led Western with 5 goals. On McMaster, Park led the team with 7 goals.
Game 4: York (13) v. Ottawa (23)
Ottawa sprung back after a tough loss to beat York in their first game of the Championships. Top scorer of the game was Tremblay from Ottawa with 7 goals. York was led by Torres with 5.
Game 5: Western (6) v. Toronto (14)
Toronto beat Western for their second win of the day. They finished day one with two wins, making them one of the top teams to beat. Abraham from Western scored 2 of their 6 goals. Toronto’s top scorers were Brasic, Tali, Chung and Champman each with 3.
Game 6: Queens (13) v. McMaster (9)
Both teams fought for their first win of the day with Queens claiming the points. Top scorers were Bickerton from Queens and Park from McMaster with 5 each.
