No.9 RYERSON LOSES THIRD OF THE YEAR, QUEEN'S TAKES OVER FIRST PLACE
The Mustangs men’s volleyball team knocked off No.9 Ryerson Rams (13-3) in three straight sets to improve to 11-4 on the season. Western took the three set victory 26-24, 25-19, 25-17. Western brought a balanced attack to the court which was offensively led by fourth year right side Joshua Chisholm (Toronto, Ontario) who produced 16 kills and 22 points on the night. Defensively, the Mustangs wouldn’t let the ball hit the floor, out digging the Rams 33-13. Ryerson powerhouse Ryan Vandenburg (Wooler, Ontario) was kept to a quite night with 13 kills and 14 points.
Queen’s 3, McMaster 1
Despite losing the first set, the No.8 Queen’s Golden Gaels men’s volleyball team (13-1) came back to claim the victory over the Mauraders (11-5) 3-1 moving them into first place over the No.9 Ryerson Rams this weekend (21-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-20). Queen’s had a balanced offense as three players registered double figure points led by two third year players in Jeff Demeza (Calgary, Alberta) who had 16 kills and 21 point, along with Luke Lichty’s (St.Catherines, Ontario) 19 kills and 20 points. The Marauders were led by fourth year verteran Daniel Smedley (Woodbridge, Ontario) who had 13 kills and 14 points on the night.
