GRYPHONS VISIT MUSTANGS IN OPENING ROUND WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL MATCH-UP
The series during the regular season was tied between the two teams, each winning one a piece on their home courts.
The Mustangs travelled to Guelph on Nov. 28 playing three close sets, however Guelph stole the victory with set wins of 24-26, 20-25 and 22-25.
In the rematch, the Mustangs put on a good show for their home crowd winning in five sets. Elaine Screaton (Calgary) carried the team with 17 points, 25 digs and two aces to defeat the Gryphons. Guelph did not go down without a fight winning two of the five matches and the scoring of the five sets were very close at 25-21, 25-18, 23-25,27-29 and 15-10.

Meanwhile, Western's men's volleyball team will look to improve its playoff position this weekend, with games at McMaster Feb. 20 at 8 p.m. and Toronto Feb. 21 at 2 p.m.. With two wins, the Mustangs can put itself in a spot to capture first place and a first-round bye, but Western would have to sweep McMaster or hope McMaster loses to Windsor on Feb. 19.
