CIS: WESTERN WOMEN'S RUGBY TEAM TO PLAY FOR GOLD AT CIS CHAMPIONSHIP
LONDON, Ont. (CIS) - Allison Lamoureux scored three tries as the tournament host Western Ontario Mustangs advanced to the CIS women's rugby final for the fourth time in six years with a 26-5 win over the Guelph Gryphons in the second national semi-final at the St. Georges Society Rugby Fields, Saturday afternoon.

The Mustangs, who had to settle for fourth place a year ago when they also hosted
the CIS championship, claimed back-to-back Monilex Trophies in 2004 and 2005
defeating Toronto 12-8 and Alberta 22-0, respectively, in the title games.
Western lost 38-6 to Alberta in its first CIS final appearance back in 2002.
The OUA champion Mustangs, who had already defeated Guelph 50-0 in conference play and 43-12 in semi-final action earlier this fall, will battle the Canada West champion Lethbridge Pronghorns for CIS gold Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
The Pronghorns, who lost 20-3 to Alberta in their lone previous CIS final appearance in 2003, earned a berth in the Monilex Trophy game with a 5-3 win over defending national champion StFX earlier on Saturday.
Sunday's final will be a rematch of last year's bronze-medal game won 17-15 by
Lethbridge. The two teams had also met in pool play with Western prevailing 15-5.
Guelph will face StFX for third place Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
Latoya Blackwood also scored a try for Western in the semi-final victory over the
Gryphons, while Joannah Clift (2) and Kate Woodhouse (1) added converts.
All-Canadian Jayne Cation earned Mustang player-of-the-game honours following a
stellar performance from the back.
The Mustangs constant pressure proved too much for their OUA rivals, who turn the
ball over on numerous occasions.
Liane Inglis had the lone Guelph try late in the second half.
