NO HARM, NO FOUL AS LEADERS ALL WIN
Veteran Fiona Aiston got the defending OUA champs off on the right foot this week as she potted two goals to lead Laurier to a big 4-2 win over the York Lions Friday, avenging the Hawks' only defeat of the season two weeks ago. Jessica Judges and Ashley McMillin also score for Laurier, while Morgan Wielgosz needed to make just 11 saves for the win in between the pipes. Autumn Mills scored both goals for York and Kaylee Black picked up assists on both markers.
Andrea Bevan scored in overtime to give the Hawks a dramatic 3-2 win over Brock in St. Catharines Sunday. Bevan also added an assist, while McMillin and Laurissa Kenworthy added the other two Laurier goals. Rookie goalie Liz Knox made 19 saves for her fourth win of the season. Reigning CIS player of the Year Kate Allgood led Brock with a goal and an assist.
Guelph got goals from Elysia Desmier, Arden Sullivan and Carrie Tokarcyzk as they skated to a 3-1 home win over the Waterloo Warriors Thursday. Aleisha Lusk made 24 saves in the victory and Elaine Dumas chipped in two assists for the Gryphons. Randi Wilson scored the lone Waterloo goal. Sarah Long spelled Lusk and made 22 saves as the Gryphs kept their momentum with a 2-1 win over the Windsor Lancers Sunday in Windsor. Sullivan scored her team-leading seventh goal in the win, while rookie Jacalyn Sollis added the first marker of her OUA career. Fifth-year Windsor captain Mara Delaroche replied for the Lancers.
Toronto improved to 6-3-0-0 with back-to-back wins beginning with a 2-1 victory over the Lancers. Mary Modeste had a goal and two assists, while Justine Todd scored once and added a helper for the Blues, who peppered Lancers' netminder Jamie Tessier with 37 shots. Stephanie Lockert made 24 saves in the Toronto net. Lockert was perfect Sunday, turning away all 19 shots she faced as she registered her third shutout of the season in a 1-0 win over Western. Second-year Hamilton, Ont. native Annie Del Guidice had the game's only goal, her third of the year and eighth point.
In other action, Brock scored twice in the third period to erase a one-goal deficit and defeat Western 3-2 Saturday in St. Catharines. Lana Norris had a goal and an assist for the Badgers, while Blair Komenda and Michelle Lee each scored. Sara Kirchner made 21 saves for the win.
