BIG SHOT METHOT: NO MAGIC TO GEE-GEES ROOKIE SNIPER'S SUCCESS
"If there are any kids listening," said Methot, straight-faced on Monday in advance of Tuesday's OUA pre-holiday showdown at cross-town Carleton.
"Make sure you listen to your parents when they tell you to practice your shot, because it works."
Methot, a 21-year-old Ottawa native, is leading the Gee-Gees with eight goals after a final 2007-08 season with the OHL 67s - where the six-foot-three, 215-pound left wing scored 41 points (22-19) in 66 games.
Gee-Gees coach Dave Leger said Methot's shot is magic.
"He's scored a number of goals for us this year that we just haven't seen in a couple of years."
Matthieu's older brother Marc Methot, 23, had seven points (3-4) in 17 NHL games as a promising defenceman with the Columbus Blue Jackets ahead of Monday night's home game against Vancouver.
"We talk almost every day," said Matthieu, who is taking the CIS hockey route in stride, noting its benefit.
"I'm getting my education paid for and having a lot of fun."
The Gee-Gees (5-4-3), which have lost three consecutive overtime games, face the second-place Ravens (9-5-1) at Carleton Tuesday (7 p.m.) in the final OUA Far East game ahead of the holiday break.
"It's huge," said Methot. "I'm hoping all the guys are ready to go."
