OUA BY THE NUMBERS
HAMILTON, Ont. – A weekly look at stats and figures from around Ontario University Athletics (OUA).
4 – The number of points Chloe Milano (Maple, Ont.) scored for York, including the series-clinching goal in double overtime of game three, as the Lions defeated the defending OUA women’s hockey champion Queen’s in the first round of playoffs. Milano was named the Pioneer Energy OUA Female Athlete of the Week.
22 – The number of kills recorded by Queen’s Gaels outside attacker Joren Zeeman (Cambridge, Ont.) to lead the Gaels into the OUA Men’s Volleyball Final Four this upcoming weekend. The Gaels were facing elimination but Zeeman led the charge back from two sets down against Guelph to take the five set quarter-final victory.
30 – The number of rebounds collected by Ottawa’s Hannah Sunley-Paisley (Toronto) on the final weekend of the women’s basketball regular season. Her performance moved her into second place on the OUA all-time career rebounding list as she finished with 993 boards.
2 – The number of years Ryerson’s Joanna Kolbe (Mississauga, Ont.) has won the individual epee event after defending her title at the women’s fencing championships this past weekend. She also helped lead the Rams to the epee team title for the first time in program history.
3 – The number of goals scored by Gee-Gees captain Mathieu Methot (Ottawa) in Ottawa’s first round playoff series. After being a game-time decision to play in the series at all after suffering a facial injury, his go-ahead marker in game two helped the Gee-Gees sweep third seeded Nipissing.
38 – The number of points scored by Laurentian guard Manny Pasquale (Victoria, B.C.) in just 14 minutes of action on Friday evening. The OUA and CIS leading scorer sunk nine three-pointers and added five other baskets during his court time. The third-year player finished the year with 26.33 points per game and was named this week’s Pioneer Energy OUA Male Athlete of the Week and CIS Male Athlete of the Week.
7 – The number of upsets in the first round of OUA playoff hockey. On the men’s side, both number six seeds, Brock and Ottawa, and both number five seeds, Windsor and Carleton, won their series. In women’s action, Windsor, Western, and York took down the two through four seeds in their division.
