QUEEN'S CAPTURES DOUBLE GOLD AT FENCING CHAMPIONSHIP
The Queen's Golden Gaels traveled across town last weekend to RMC and brought back two OUA Fencing Championship banners to hang from their rafters. For the women, it was their fourth straight title. Host RMC, led by Dave O'Donnell Trophy winner Sarah Spence, finished with the silver. Spence led her team in the foil event where she took individual honours and the Paladins won the team event. The McMaster Marauders earned the overall bronze as they captured the sabre team event with the help of Katheryn Pierrynowski.
On the men's side, it was the first Queen's title since 1992. Complete men's results are still to follow.
It is the first time since the 1999-2000 season where the same school won both the men and women's titles.
