102ND YATES CUP DRAWS RECORD RATINGS ON THE SCORE
An average audience of 129,429 people tuned into The Score Television Network last Saturday to watch the Queen's Gaels defeat the Western Mustangs 43-39 in the 102nd Yates Cup presented by Pioneer Petroleums, setting an all-time record for an OUA game on the network according to BBM Canada metrics. The previous total of 108,000 was set on Sept. 12, 2009 between Western and the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks.
In addition, 203,000 people tuned in during the 4 p.m. ET hour just as the game was entering its dramatic conclusion. Queen's won its first Yates Cup since 1978, as Gaels quarterback Dan Brannagan (Burlington, Ont.) and Western counterpart Michael Faulds (Eden Mills, Ont.) combined for over 1,000 passing yards.
Inside the stadium, 7,253 people watched the game live in Richardson Stadium in Kingston, Ont., the second-largest crowd for a Yates Cup game in five seasons.
The Queen's Gaels will host the Laval Rouge et Or in the Mitchell Bowl, this Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.
