On Saturday night, the Laurentian men's hockey team lost 3-2 in double overtime to the Carleton Ravens.
Michael McNamee opened the scoring for the Ravens at 3:48 of the first period as he found the back of the net in behind Charlie Millen. The Voyageurs would tie the game just under a minute later when Caleb Apperson scored off a play generated by Blake Forslund and Chris Smith. The Vees then took the lead before the period ended when Brent Pedersen scored on the power play. Pedersen's tally at 12:01 was assisted by Caleb Apperson and Jacob Smith.
The Voyageurs would hold onto their 2-1 lead for the remainder of the first period and the entire second period. The Ravens would eventually tie the game early in the third period, as Alex Boivin evened the score at 2:24.
Neither team was able to strike again in the third and the contest would head to overtime. In overtime, the Ravens completed the comeback when Brett Welychka buried a one-timer at 2:43 of the second overtime period.
Despite the loss, the Voyageurs still occupy the eighth and final playoff spot. The Vees are back on the ice tomorrow as they play Ottawa.
