The Lancer women's basketball team has once again advanced to the OUA Final Four with a 63-48 road victory over the Carleton Ravens on Saturday night at the Ravens Nest in Ottawa.
Carly Steer led the way for the Blue & Gold with 19 points on 5-for-11 shooting from the three point line, while Cheyanne Roger and Emily Roger each had another fantastic night on the court, recording 17 points each. Roger also put up the game's only double-double adding 10 rebounds to her totals.
The first half saw the Lancers take an 8-4 lead early in the first quarter before the Ravens went on a 6-0 run to take their first lead of the game, 10-8. Carleton built multiple leads throughout the half on Windsor's 17 turnovers, however the Lancers continued to chip away at their lead and trailed by only a basket, 26-24, at the half.
Roger had 10 of her 17 points in the first, while Prevost and Kaylee Anagnostopoulos each had 5 rebounds in the first 20 minutes.
Windsor came out in the second half and played the basketball they are known for. Trailing early in the third, the Blue & Gold relied on some rock-hard defense, accurate shooting, and a number of clutch three pointers from Steer to build a 14-point lead with a minute to go in regulation.
Overall, the Lancers shot 39.2% from the field compared to Carleton's 25.4%, and out-rebounded the hosts 48-36.
Windsor will now head to the OUA Final Four at the University of Ottawa next weekend to face the host Gee Gees. Game times have yet to be determined; stay tuned to goLancers.ca for more information as it becomes available.
