Blues come back to beat Hawks in OT at Holiday Invitational
The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball continued their winning ways, defeating the Laurier Golden Hawks 84-78 in overtime on Day 2 of the U of T Holiday Invitational, December 29, at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.

Down by as many as 14 points early in the fourth quarter, the Blues rallied and forced the overtime period with a dominant 20-6 streak. Seven fourth quarter points from team co-captain Alanna Garner, as well as a thrilling three-pointer from rookie Keyira Parkes with eight seconds remaining tied the game at 73-73 to force overtime.
Toronto outscored Laurier 11-5 in the extra frame to secure the victory.
Third-year guard Diedre Edwards led all players with 22 points, while adding seven boards and five steals on the day. Garner notched 21 points, six rebounds and four steals, while Rahshida Atkinson had 15 points and five boards.
Emily Piccini added 12 points and five rebounds, with Parkes notching a team-high nine boards in the victory.
Laurier's Nicole Morrison and Courtney Bruce each had 21 points, while Heather Payne added a game-high 19 boards in the loss.
The Blues wrap up the tournament tomorrow afternoon as they take on the Victoria Vikes (2-0) at 1 p.m.
