Gaels to take on York in front of 1,200 School Kids at the Rogers K-Rock Centre homecoming weekend
KINGSTON, Ont. (October 9, 2014) – The No.3 Queen's Gaels women's hockey team will be taking part in a school day game at the Rogers K-Rock Centre next Friday October 17 at noon as they welcome the York Lions to Kingston.
KINGSTON, Ont. (October 9, 2014) – The No.3 Queen's Gaels women's hockey team will be taking part in a school day game at the Rogers K-Rock Centre next Friday October 17 at noon as they welcome the York Lions to Kingston.
In partnership with the Kingston Frontenac's, Rogers K-Rock Centre, and Queen's Women's Hockey Alumni, the event will celebrate UN Day of the Girl and profile women's sport and the role education plays in promoting the rights of girls – both in the classroom and through sport.
Approx. 1,200 school kids from the Kingston area are expected to take part with free admission, special in-game promotions and prizes to cheer on the Gaels.
The game will also be a showcase for women's sport and leadership in the Kingston community with special guests from prominent leadership roles in Kingston expected to attend.
Tickets for the general public will also be available for the special price of $5 and can be purchased online here: http://queens.universitytickets.com/user_pages/event.asp?id=340 or at the door. Queen's students can pick up one free ticket from the ARC customer service desk with a valid student ID.
During the Frontenac's game later that Friday night be sure to stop by the Gaels women's hockey silent auction table behind section 114 to bid on items and meet some of the Gaels team.
