Ravens' Connor Wood selected to Team Canada for 39th William Jones Cup
Carleton Ravens men’s basketball player Connor Wood (Guelph, ON), who was named the U SPORTS Player of the Year in 2016-17, has been selected to the roster that will represent Canada at the international tournament to be held in Tapei, Taiwan from July 14-23, 2017.

"It's an honour to join [Team Canada] headed up by Teddy [Tochev] and Kyle [Julius] and it will be great to play with the other members of this team," said Wood, a three-time OUA All-Star. "It will be great to travel and see more of what international basketball will be like."
In his final university campaign, the 6-foot-4 senior posted phenomenal scoring numbers, averaging a career-high 19.2 points per game, while shooting 50.8 per cent from the floor. As one of the country's most prolific sharpshooters, Wood ranked second in U SPORTS men's basketball with 76 three-pointers made, while his 50.3 percent conversion rate from the beyond the arc was the third highest total across the country.
The Canada 3D Global Sports team consists of players from U SPORTS, NCAA and NBL.
Wood will join a handful of other current and former U SPORTS stars in Tapei, including UBC's Conor Morgan, Alberta's Joel Friesen, and Saint Mary's Joey Haywood. The team will be coached by Kyle Julius from the National Basketball League of Canada's London Lightning.
Canada, which has medalled five times in the tournament's 38-year history, will play teams from Asia and the Middle East.
The William Jones Cup is a historic and prestigious annual EuroBasket and FIBA Asia CUP sanctioned international tournament. The tournament, which began in 1977, will be televised on every major TV platform in Asia, Oceania and the Middle-East.
