From start to finish, the Gryphons were playing with high energy on Wednesday night at the W.F. Mitchell Athletics Centre. Adam Kemp (Toronto, ON) got the game going with a great dunk as the team fed of the crowd in the beginning. Kemp would continue to dominate the Warriors down low as he would go on to score six of the first ten points for the Gryphons. Half way through the quarter Head Coach Chris O'Rourke would sub on Taylor Boers (Belleville, ON) and he would go to work. Boers was perfect in the quarter, scoring nine points to lead the Gryphons. They would end the quarter up 28-12.
The second quarter would not be any different as the Gryphons continued to dominate the Warriors. Adam Kemp would throw down another huge dunk over two Warriors to put the Gryphons up 15 half way through the quarter. Daniel Dooley (Burlington, ON) and Jonathan Wallace (Toronto, ON) would hit back-to-back threes with 2:30 left in the half, getting the lead up to 20. The Gryphons would end the half 51-28 and would look to keep the train rolling in the second half.
Quarter number three had the Gryphons dominating just like the first two. This time the Gryphons would be scoring by committee as everyone was in on the action. The scoring parade would be emphasized by another Adam Kemp dunk down low. Guelph would score 26 in the quarter, to take a 77-50 lead into the fourth.
The fourth quarter would settle down, as the defence would come back into the game. The Gryphons would hold their lead not letting the Warriors sniff at a comeback. Coach O'Rourke would let the bench take over half way through the quarter, as the Gryphons would cruise to a 92-60 win. Adam Kemp would be the high scorer for the Gryphons with 16 points, while Trevor Thompson and Ahmed Haroon each finished with 13 points.
Up next for the Gryphons, a matchup with the first-place team in their division, the 9-3 McMaster Marauders. That game is scheduled for 8pm Wednesday, January 28th at the W.F. Mitchell Athletics Centre.
