By the Numbers: St. Louis steals the show in York's decisive wins
Burlington, Ont. - Numbers from across the Week 4 Ontario University Athletics (OUA) slate featured a relentless run game, a game-winning penalty kick in the final minute, and a career-high performance between the pipes.
271 - The Golden Hawks didn't soar through their Week 4 matchup with York, they ran through it, racking up a combined 271 yards of offence on the ground. Led by Quentin Scott's 172-yard performance, Wilfrid Laurier eclipsed their previous season-best mark by over 100 yards and catapulted themselves to fourth in conference rushing as a result.
90 - To say Toronto's win over Trent came down to the wire would be an understatement. The Varsity Blues were knotted up at one with the Excalibur in the final stages of their weekend tilt, when Karly Hellstrom stepped up to the spot and delivered a clutch penalty kick in the 90th minute to give her side the nail-biting 2-1 victory.
71 - Western's Lexi McCay made the most of her outing at the Mustangs Invitational this past weekend, not only helping her host squad collect the team win by three shots, but finishing atop the individual leaderboard herself, eclipsing the seven-team field by five strokes thanks to her 71 on the day.
27 - The league leader in saves was as busy as ever in RMC's all-Kingston matchup with Queen's this past weekend. Although the Gaels pulled away on the scoreboard, Paladins goalkeeper Breanna Habinski was sharp between the pipes all game long, turning away an eye-popping 27 shots, including a Cecilia Way breakaway attempt, which marked a career-high total for the fourth-year standout.
9 - York turned to a veteran presence to anchor their impressive opening weekend wins against McGill, as Frankie St. Louis led the charge for the Lions. Beginning with the 12-0 win on Saturday, the fifth-year defender netted five goals for her side, which she would then follow up with a four-goal performance in their 10-0 encore.
.846 - In Guelph's four games this weekend, Braedon Walsh was as tough an out as anyone. The second-year shortstop shone on both sides of the ball, but especially at the plate, where he went 11-for-13 with eight RBIs and two doubles. The .846 average in those four games helped lead the Gryphons to a victory in each.
