OUA All-Stars comes out on top with an 8-5 win over OCAA All-Stars
With the OCAA leading by a run in the bottom of the seventh inning, Guelph's Wes Romak (London, Ont.) hit a bases loaded double to centerfield off of St. Clair's Josh Sikich (Windsor, Ont.). The two-out blast cleared the bases and gave the OUA all-stars a 7-5 lead. Romak would manage to score on the next play as Laurier outfielder Daniel Murphy (Toronto) drove him in on an RBI single to extend the OUA's late rally. Romak was named the OUA's MVP following the game.
A pair of pitchers from the Brock Badgers rotation would stifle OCAA hitters and shut down any bid of a comeback as Phil Owen (Richmond Hill, Ont.) and Paul McKenna (Oakville, Ont.) threw back-to-back 1-2-3 innings to secure the OUA the three-run victory. Queen's Jeremy McDonald (Georgetown, Ont.) earned the win for the OUA all-stars, as he allowed only one hit in the bottom of the seventh inning, starting the string of three shutout innings to finish the game.
Earning MVP honours for the OCAA all-stars was Humber shortstop George Halim who went 2-for-4 at the plate with one run and two RBIs. Halim also had a highlight reel diving catch off a line drive by Laurier's Jonathan Brouse (Port Perry, Ont.), which put an end to an OUA offensive threat in the fourth inning.
Guelph's Matt Forer (Brampton, Ont.) and Western's Cam Graham (Sarnia, Ont.) were the two other players in the all-star game with multi-hit nights as Forer went 2-for-4 at the plate and Graham was 2-for-2 with a walk.
