Yuill scores winning goal in his 100th game

NORTH BAY, Ont. – Cameron Yuill's 100th OUA conference game was one to remember as he scored the game-winning goal in UOIT's 5-3 road win over the Nipissing Lakers.

The Ridgebacks' 13th victory of the season also marks a program high for wins in a season previously set by the 2010-11 team.

Tied 2-2 after 40 minutes, UOIT would dominate the third period outscoring Nipissing 3-1. Adam Campagnolo (Waterloo, Ont.) opened up scoring three minutes into the period, followed by Yuill's (Wellington, Ont.) third of the season at 10:59. Jake Logan (Napanee, Ont.) and Alex Yuill (Wellington, Ont.) had assists on Yuill's goal.

Nipissing managed to cut the lead to just one with four minutes remaining but Jesse Stoughton (Bobcaygeon, Ont.), who scored the overtime winner against Concordia last Saturday, scored at 18:12 to seal the Ridgeback victory.

Defender Jason Shaw (Belleville, Ont.) had his second straight multi-point game with one goal and two assists while captain Luke VanMoerkerke (Tillsonburg, Ont.) had two helpers. James Woodcroft (Milton, Ont.) scored his seventh goal of the season to put the Ridgebacks on the board.

Leading the offence for the Lakers was Dylan Staples who finished with one goal and an assist.

Brendan O'Neill (Ilderton, Ont.) picked up the win for UOIT stopping 20 Laker shots on goal. UOIT would outshoot Nipissing 28-23 with half of their shots coming in the third period.

UOIT (13-7-1) remains two points ahead of the Queen's Gaels (12-6-1) for fourth place and home ice advantage in the OUA eastern conference. Queen's defeated Laurentian (7-11-4) on Friday, who UOIT will match up against on Saturday night in Sudbury.
