After a heartbreaking loss at the hands of the Nipissing Lakers last weekend the Laurentian Voyageurs Men's Basketball team were looking to bounce back as they took the trip up to Kingston to face-off against the Queen's Gaels.

With the game underway both teams were locked into what seemed to be a fierce battle. Both sides exchange early baskets not really being able to pull away from one another. In the end a tightly contested first quarter would end with the Voyageurs nudging just ahead of the Gaels by a score of 22-20.

The second quarter however was one to forget for Laurentian as it seemed to all go wrong for the visiting team in the second. Firstly the offense would go cold as the team would shoot just 26% from the field in the second being held to just 15 points while the Gaels put up 30 on 52% shooting allowing them to build a 13 point lead going into the second half.

The second half seemed to mirror a lot of the first quarter as in the third and fourth quarter the game was tightly played and as a fan if you hadn't seen the second quarter you would have believed this to be a very close game throughout. Unfortunately for Laurentian with the game being played so tightly they were never able to climb out of the hole they had put themselves in at the end of the first half meaning that by the end of the game Queen's would come away with a 102-84 victory at home.

The game's standout performance for the Voyageurs was a 21 point performance off the bench from Phillippe Fandio who also added 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the game.

Laurentian will look to break their two game losing streak tomorrow night as they travel to Oshawa to play the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks at 8pm.
