MBB - Voyageurs fall to Gaels in last game of the weekend

On Friday, the Voyageurs took on the Queen's Gaels in their last game of the road trip. The Gaels proved to be too strong for the Voyageurs, defeating them 85-46.

The Gaels scored the first basket, while Ismael Konate responded with a layup shortly after. As a result of an organized and aggressive offence, the Gaels scored 11 points within seven minutes, while Caillou Lacroix and Konate made a combination of 6 points. Later on in the quarter, first year forward Evan Munro sunk a 3-point shot, as well as Lacroix, adding 6 more points to the board. The Voyageurs were trailing the Gaels 22-14 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Kamil Dia Hantchi and Gaëtan Chamand made a jump shot, while Konate and Munro made a layup. The Gaels proved to have a stronger offence than the Voyageurs, as the score was 44-29 going into the half.

Coming back from the half, Cedric Mbiaba and Konate both made layups, but the Gaels quickly answered with 5 points in two minutes. At the fourth minute mark, Laurentian called a timeout to regroup, with was ineffective, as the Gaels scored 6 points in thirty seconds. Towards the end of the quarter, Tyler Brown scored a layup and a free throw, and Munro made one free throw himself, but the Gaels still had the lead 65-37.

In the last ten minutes, Daniel Muila made 6 points and Shamar Forbes made a 3-point shot, but the margin was too large for the Voyageurs to catch up, getting defeated 85-46.

The standout performers were Ismael Konate with 11 points and 6 rebounds, Daniel Muila with 8 points and 8 rebounds and Evan Munro with 6 points.

The Voyageurs are back on the court for their home opener against the Queen's Gaels on Friday, November 10th. Tip off is set for 8 pm.
