BADGERS GET PAST BLUES

Box Score The University of Toronto Varsity Blues women's basketball team dropped a 79-59 decision to the Brock Badgers on Friday night (Feb. 5) at Goldring Centre for High Performance Sport.

With the loss, the Blues drop to 5-8 but remain in third place in the OUA East division, while the Badgers improve to 8-5 and sit second in the Central division.

Third-year guard Diedre Edwards earned player of the game honours, recording 14 points, nine rebounds and three assists.

Fellow third-year guard Rahshida Atkinson led the Blues with 21 points and four rebounds, while team co-captain Alanna Garner had eight points and a game-high 12 boards in the loss.

The Badgers were led by Kayla Santilli's game-high 23 points, while Melissa Tatti had 18 points and nine assists in the victory.

The Varsity Blues are back in action tomorrow night as they host the Laurier Golden Hawks in conjunction with the Bell NBA All-Star Challenge, presented by AIRMILES at Goldring Centre. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.

The game marked the beginning of the U of T SAMHI (Student-Athlete Mental Health Initiative) organization's first-ever 'Mental Health Matchup' weekend.
