Varsity Blues top Rams to win season series

TORONTO - The Ryerson Rams women's soccer team continued with their second half struggles Wednesday night after the Toronto Varsity Blues scored two goals in the second 45 en route to a 2-0 win at Downsview Park.

BOXSCORE

The latter 45 continues to plague the Rams. On six occasions this season, Ryerson has managed to hold powerhouses such as Ottawa, Carleton, Queen's, and UOIT to 0-0 draws through the first 45, but have lost on all six occasions after allowing second half goals.

Wednesday night's Subway Series with U of T was no different for the Rams.  A solid first half had the Rams and U of T deadlocked at zeros heading into the second.

Varsity Blues' striker Chelsea Chung opened up the scoring in the 49th minute.  Chung's 4th of the season gave the Varsity Blues an early second half lead.

The Rams then tightened things up defensively and held the Varsity Blues to just one for most of the remaining half, until a familiar source added a second for U of T.

Varsity Blues' prolific striker Natasha Klasios added her 10th goal of the season in the 89th minute to lead the Blues to a 2-0 win over the Rams Wednesday evening.

The Varsity Blues improved to 6-7-1 on the season, while the Rams suffered their ninth loss of 2016 and moved to 4-9-1.

The Rams will look to rebound on Oct. 22nd and 23rd in what will be their final two games of the 2016 regular season against the Ottawa Gee-Gees and Carleton Ravens.
