Ridgebacks falter in playoff tune-up

MONTREAL, Que. – It was a night to forget Friday, as the Ontario Tech University men's hockey team lost 5-1 to the Concordia Stingers.

Making their second trip to Montreal to wrap up the season before playoffs start, the Ridgebacks fell behind early and looked out of rhythm for much of the game. Having surrendered two goals within the first 10 minutes of play, Ontario Tech struggled to maintain any offensive pressure, as the host Stingers provided the Ridgebacks a taste of the intensity for playoff hockey.

The Ridgebacks still control their own destiny in terms of their playoff position, as a win in tomorrow's match against McGill University will secure them sixth place.
  • Bradly LaLonde opened the scoring just 3:12 into the game for the Stingers.
• Colin Grannary potted two goals with his first coming at 8:40 of the first and later made it 4-0 with 8:01 left in the second period.
• Philippe Sanche made it 3-0 10:30 into the second period, with Jeremy Diotte rounding out the scoring 18:45 in the third.
Austin Eastman (Lindsay, Ont.) scored the lone Ridgebacks goal 6:05 into the third period.
Leif Hertz (Kingston. Ont.) allowed four goals on 20 shots before being replaced by Michael Bullion (Anchorage, Alaska) who stopped 9 of 10 shots in relief.
• Kyle Jessiman allowed just one goal on 19 shots in the win.
  Overall Record: 15-14-3
Conference Record: 12-12-3
