OSHAWA, Ont. – A hot Guelph Gryphons team led from the start as they won their first meeting with the Ontario Tech University women's basketball team 82-53 on Wednesday night.
Guelph shot 43.2 per cent from the field and 73.3 per cent from the line in the victory, while also staying under 10 turnovers against the Ridgebacks.
For the Ridgebacks they will now play a rare and first-ever school day game on Monday, January 13 against the Algoma Thunderbirds. Tip-off is 11 a.m. at the Campus Recreation & Wellness Centre.

Vanessa Budimunda (Montreal, Que.) finished with a team-high 13 points for Ontario Tech.

Hadeza Ismaila (Ottawa, Ont.) had nine points.
• Shantz caused lots of trouble for Ontario Tech as she had the only double-double in the game for the Gryphons, pulling in 16 boards, while also picking up five assists.
• Skyla Minaker had a game-high four steals and seven assists for Guelph.

Katherine Onunkwo (Ajax, Ont.) finished with the Ridgebacks' high of nine boards to go along with her 11 points.
